Weekly Gaming Gossip Column: January 23rd 2017

It feels like we’ve been waiting half a life for a new Half-Life game, and just when the world had become resigned to never seeing Half-Life 3, Valve has decided to play with our feelings yet again. Offering us a glimmer of hope Valve’s Gabe Newell said the company is quite open to reconsidering Half-Life and the list of new Valve games in 2017 may include something based in the Half-Life universe.

From the reviews of Resident Evil 7 it seems the series is back to its horrifying best which is good news for Playstation 4, and Xbox One, gamers but less so for future Switch owners. Capcom has “no plans” to release the aforementioned survival horror on Nintendo’s pristine new console. Still there’s always the New Zelda.

There may be no Resident Evil 7 but there is some good news in the shape of farm simulator RPG Stardew Valley. Eric Barone aka ConcernedApe, the games developer, has said that the game will be out later in the year. Let us hope that Stardew Valley sets the tone for the kind of quirky offbeat games that I think will help the Nintendo Switch thrive.

Using advanced mathematical equations, a calculator, and simple addition, not to mention the rate at which the Nintendo Switch pre orders sold out I have determined that by the year 2020 the console will have sold a positively grand 40 million units worldwide. Bizarrely research firm DFC Intelligence have come up with a report predicting the exact same conclusion. Great minds think alike after all.
