Quiet Time: Stefanie Joosten talks to Pause Resume
Before launching Q4 we wanted to be able to bring you an interview with someone connected to one of the biggest and best games ever made. So we’re pleased to reveal that we’ve had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Stefanie Joosten, the actress who played Quiet in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Pause Resume has only been around in its final form since April, but before that we discussed our favourite game of 2015 and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain just about beat off the competition. Part of that reason was down to Stefanie Joosten and her portrayal of Quiet. The silent assassin was a character that is still unique in games, tv and film with nothing else being able to capture the enigma of what made Quiet so endearing to fans of the Metal Gear games.
It’s because of that portrayal that we were keen to talk with Stefanie Joosten, find out a bit more about herself, how the role came about and what it was like to work with Hideo Kojima.
We firmly believe that Stefanie’s portrayal of Quiet is one of the most fascinating character developments in years. Taking a character with barely any dialogue and expressing her thoughts, feelings and actions through visual movement and emotional actions. While the nature of Quiet’s attire drew attention for obvious reasons, Stefanie Joosten’s ability to handle and deliver the character and her actions through to the player was a major part of why players enjoyed Metal Gear Solid V so much.
We’d like to thank Stefanie for taking time out of her busy schedule to chat with us and make sure to follow her on Twitter, watch her stream on Twitch and check out her future projects including The Wrong Man and Japanese film Alessandra and The Fitter, both of which are expected to release early next year.
